He was predeceased by: his wife Karen Shuma; his parents, Peter Shuma and Beatrice Shuma; his brothers, Peter (Dorothy Shuma) and Robert Shuma; and his nephew Kevin.

He is survived by: his nephews, Gary DeWolfe (Niki), Mark Shuma and Scott Shuma (Deborah Shuma); his niece Donna Janquart; and his godson Davis DeWolfe.
