He was predeceased by: his parents, Cyril "Zeke" Backes and Mary Lou Backes (Rebman); and his siblings-in-law, Kay Cook (Heinkel) and Wayne Whitman. He is survived by: his spouse Deb; his daughters, Michelle Beatty (Josh) and Stephanie Backes (Brandon Duerst); the mother of his children Debbie Beenken; his stepchildren, Chelsie, Teale and Brett Bellisle; his grandchildren, Julia, Andrew, Delainey Beatty, Vida Duerst and Armani Bellisle; his sisters, Nancy Thome (Greg), Cyndi Olsen (David) and Mary Utic (Pete); and also, Sharon Seidel (Mike) and Nancy Whitman. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
