He was predeceased by: his parents, William Nicholson and Martha Nicholson (Gerrits); and his brother Rob Nicholson. He is survived by: his sibling's children, Tony Nicholson (Melissa), Melissa Desterheft (Adam) and Molly Nicholson (Shawn Kamke); his great-niece Hannah; his great-nephews, Hank Nicholson, Brody and Blake Desterheft; his friend Jim Locander; his aunt Anne Wagner; and his close friends, Julie, Corey, Steve and Joe.
