He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Carpenter and Helen Carpenter (Cain); his siblings, Joan Carlson, Dick and Robert Carpenter; his nephews, Paul Carpenter and Gay Carlson; his parents-in-law, Joseph and Dorothy O'Laughlin; and his brother-in-law James O'Laughlin.
He is survived by: his wife JoAnn O'Laughlin; his children, Michelle Peck (Russ) of Juneau, WI, Daniel Carpenter (Nanner) of Indianapolis, IN and D. Brian Carpenter (Stacy) of Dripping Springs, TX; his grandchildren, Andrew Mullin, Mathew Mullin of Fox Lake, WI, Annika, Beckett Carpenter of Dripping Springs, TX, Taylor L'Huillier (Emily) of Indianapolis, IN and Adam L'Huillier of Draper, UT; his great grandchild Luke Mullin; and his brother Thomas Carpenter (Virginia). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
