He was predeceased by: his father Thomas Whalen; his former wife Carol Gies (Flagge); his stepfather Tony Kies; his brother-in-law Donald VanRoosenbeek; his siblings, Larry Whalen (Lorraine) and Grace Pedek; his brother-in-law Mike O'Gorman; and also, Raymond and Lucille Flagge.
He is survived by: his wife Gloria; his children, Jeanne Gies (Michael Rorby), Jamie Whalen (Susan), Green Bay and Tom Whalen (Patty) of Rochester, MN; his great grandchild Sam Whalen (Lee Ann); his son Liam; his grandchildren, Brenton, Jaxyn and Rafe Whalen; his sisters, Rosemary Whalen and Rita O'Gorman; and his siblings-in-law, Don Pedek (Mo Foley) and Ellen VanRoosenbeek. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
