She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband John Schmitz; her children, Paul, William (Katie) and Julie Carlton (Jesse); her grandchildren, John, Emma, Alex and Tyler; her mother Flora Magestro; her siblings, James Magestro, Angela Van Hecke (Robert) and Marietta Hueneke; her friends, Joan Wolffersdorff and Jan Beckman; her father Frank Magestro; her brother-in-law Ronald Hueneke; and her close friend Bruno. She was also cherished by her nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
