He was predeceased by : his father Theodore "Ted" Lakatos; his parents-in-law, Melvin "Bud" and Eldora Buchholz; and his siblings-in-law, Robert "Bob" Ollendorf and Sandy Blashka.
He is survived by : his wife Diane Buchholz; his daughter Heidi Rusch (Shane); his granddaughter Autumn Brandes (Ben Klister); his siblings, Pat Blashka, William Blashka (Pauline) and Mary Bender (Don); and his brother-in-law Dan Buchholz. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
