He was predeceased by: his parents, Heinrich and Ilse; his sister Renate Kniprath; and his brother-in-law John Smithes (Donna). He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his sons, Mark Tilley (Peggy) and Christopher Ries (Guilia); his grandchildren, Grace, Charlotte, Adam, Rashad, Spencer, Arianna and Alicia; his siblings-in-law, Sandy Zaniewski (David) and Kathy Vance (Todd); and his pets, Cooper and Joey. He is also survived by his family, including many nieces, nephews, cousins, and by his many friends.
