He was predeceased by: his parents, Adolph Gilbertson and Marie Gilbertson (Sacia); his in-laws, Vernon and Winifred Anderson; his siblings, Charlotte Becker and Wendell Gilbertson; and his brothers-in-law, Gordon Becker and Robert Anderson.

He is survived by: his wife Sandra; his sons, Kerry Gilbertson (Virginia) of Monona, IA and Scott Gilbertson (Turena) of Holmen, WI; his grandchildren, Cathy Troendle of Lansing, IA, Owen Gilbertson (Alyssa Yeiter) of LaCrosse, WI, Sacia Gilbertson of Holland, MI and Berit Gilbertson of Holmen, WI; his great grandchildren, Austin of Iowa, Allen of Iowa and Kelsey of Iowa; and his siblings-in-law, Berdene Schroeder (Jim) of St. Cloud, FL and Rich Anderson (Julie) of Holmen, WI. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to Holmen Lutheran Church or Mayo Clinic Hospice Program.
