She was predeceased by: her parents, Arnold Konow and Alvina Konow (Wohlrabe); her husband Donald Bess; and her daughter Sonya Sue Seehawer. She is survived by: her daughters, Sherry Lynn Meyer (Dennis), Sandra Kaye Ernst (Jerome) and Sharlotte Kim Rhode (Robert); her stepchildren, Marla Smith and Michael Bess (Carol); her grandchildren, Richard Rhode (Patricia), Elliot Rhode (Stephanie), Hattie Kluth (Cody), Jacki Sullivan (Ryan), Tim Meyer, Lydia Seehawer, Elijah Auer (Colbe), Cassandra Ernst, Nathan Ernst (Amanda), Eric Ernst (Nikki), Cassie Bess, Nicki Felice (Mark) and Dani McCraken-Bennett (Gavin); her sister Beverly Wheelock; her sister-in-law Betty Weyenberg (Tom); and her close friend Donald Behm. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A memorial fund has been established.
