He is survived by : his wife Helen Otzelberger Schmidt (Hennes); his children, Roger Schmidt (Patty) of Eau Claire, Bonnie Schoofs (Andy) of Hartford, Anthony Schmidt (Kathleen) of Slinger, Julie Fronsee (Tim) of Odessa, Fla., Kenneth Schmidt (Sue) of Slinger, Daniel E. Schmidt of Iola and Donna Chappell (Scott) of Ridgeway; his stepchildren, Ken Otzelberger (Linda), Laurie Otzelberger (Bill Barone) and John Otzelberger (Mary); his grandsons, Robert Schmidt (Brooke), Scott Schmidt and James Schmidt (Alesha); his stepchildren, Andrea Meyer (Joe), Martin Schoofs (Cassandra), Aaron Schoofs (Christy), Jennifer Schmidt, Katie Schmidt, Corinne Switala (Brian), Rebecca Coe (Prescott), Alea Schmidt, Tamika Smith, Taylor Schmidt, Emily Schubert, Tyler Chappell and Dylan Chappell; his great grandchildren, Isabelle, Addison, Brennan and Colton Schmidt; and his grandchildren, Nathaniel, Kateri Meyer, Matthias, Brielle Schoofs, Isabella, Brooklyn Switala, Lenina Coe and Raven of Washington. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
