He was predeceased by: his parents, Ross Cadwell and Nellie Cadwell (Rask); his wife Marge; his siblings, Don, Bob, Dick, Calvin, Edna Prangburn, Alice Mork and Dorothy Cadwell; and his children-in-law, Craig Jonason and Judy Berghuis.

He is survived by: his former wife Marjorie Carolyn Williams; his children, Jerry of Clarkfield, MN, Carolyn Jonason of Hudson, WI, Larry (Mingli) of Mounds View, MN and Randy of LaPorte; his brother Art (Muriel) of Marshall, MN; and his sister-in-law Dianne Karlstad of Lynd, MN. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Merlyn loved to show us his train set-up and talk about his railroading days. His love of music was a foundation of who he was.”
