He was predeceased by : his parents, Lowry Nelson and Ellen Nelson (Schaal); his stepfathers, Donald and Eugene Hedrington; and his siblings, Jaqueline and Thomas.

He is survived by : his friend Mike Lecrone; his wife Chari Nelsen; his sons, Ryan, Cory and Kirk (Shelly); his brothers, Rick Nelson, Tim Hedrington (Yvonne) and Mark Hedrington (Paulette); and his stepsiblings, Ron Hedrington (Vicki), Laura McKinney (Dan), Dan Hedrington (Camille), Connie Kamar and Bill Hedrington (Holly). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Scott was generous to his community over the years, donating pizzas and money to numerous community organizations including North Hudson Elementary School, Hudson Backpack Program, and North Hudson's Pepper Festival.
