He was predeceased by : his parents, Richard Gheller and Isabelle Gheller (Mussatti); his son John Peter; his siblings, Joseph, Stephen and Patricia; and his siblings-in-law, Nancy Saari and Bryan Pumala.

He is survived by : his wife Janet; his children, Kathryn Forslund, Denver, Vincent Gheller (Aura), Frank Gheller (Keri), Minneapolis and Phoenix Jackson (Teressa Giorgio); his grandchildren, Robert, Jordan Forslund, Gabriela, Bianca Gheller, Nicholas and Matthew Gheller; his siblings, Battiste "Bunny" Gheller of Bessemer, Richard Gheller (Roberta) of Bessemer and Mary Clements (Dale Maxam); his siblings-in-law, Barbara Gheller (Joseph), Yvonne Pumala and James Saari Sr.; and his nephew Brian Gheller. He is also survived by Oma; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
