He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Laverenz and Lillie Laverenz (Maas); his wife Ruth of David's Star Ev; his grandson Kevin Kison; his son-in-law Richard Ehlke; and his sister Delores Oppermann.

He is survived by: his children, Donna Kison (Chuck), Gary Laverenz (Gail) and Cindy Ehlke; his grandchildren, Amy Schrap (Todd), Andy Ehlke (Corrin), Jessica Washburn (Benjamin) and Ryan Laverenz (Katie); and his great grandchildren, Brandon (Nadia), Joshua Schrap, Joseph, Samuel, Elizabeth, Evelyn, Kathryn Ehlke, Caden, Liam Washburn, Kiera, Brodey and Keyana Laverenz. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
