He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

“Dennis and I were good friends, even though his brother Michael and I used him as a "football," as Denny told me in our last conversation. I thought of Dennis as the little guy that always laughed at me when I told a funny joke. I couldn't imagine that he could ever have to go through what he was. When I think of longtime friends like Dennis that need help or comfort, it's hard to feel so helpless in caring for them. I chose to pray for Dennis because prayer is the only help, I could provide.”
