He was predeceased by: his daughter DeeAnne Schmidt; his sister Karen Cogswell; his mother Marion Schmidt (Grapenthien); his father-in-law Jack Link; and his brother-in-law Kenneth Link.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Schmidt (Link); his children, Richard Schmidt Jr. (Michelle), Tracy Schmidt (Doug) and Michael Schmidt (Amanda); his grandchildren, Ty (Taylor), Madison (Scott), Keely (Riley), Alexis, Connor, Callie, Rowan, Nora, Ronan, Lilla and Ryker; his great grandchildren, Dawson, Palmer, Emersyn, Lettie and Millie; his mother-in-law Audrey Link; and his sister-in-law Louise Kreger. He is also survived by His children always knew their dad.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the Schneider Life Celebration Center (1770 E Racine St, Janesville, WI 53545).
Tennis became one of Dick's greatest contributions to the community.
