We are sad to announce that, on January 3, 2023, at the age of 96, Gene M. Smith of Janesville, Wisconsin passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, James H. and Mary L. Smith (Witte); his wife Laurna Smith; and his siblings, Gladys Fink, Evelyn Quam, Inez Zimmerman, Glenn Smith, Gail Smith, Edna Tschanz and Hazel Clark.

He is survived by: his children, James C. Smith and Anita Langer (Mark A.); his grandsons, Mark E. Langer (Amy), Randy Langer (Rachel) and Bruce Langer (Heather); and his great grandchildren, Jace, Eli, Beau, Evan, Dane, Eleanor, Owen, Hazel, Isla and Otis Langer. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to ECHO or Cargill United Methodist Church.
