He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward James and Gloria James (Birkholz); his parents-in-law, Bill and Helen Lewis; and his brothers-in-law, Lyle Downing and Bob Fugate.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Jean Lewis; his daughters, Jessica James and Carrie James; his grandchildren, Aiden, Chase and Olivia; his sisters, Carol Vickerman (Den) and Patty Lewis (Bill); his siblings-in-law, Bob Lewis (Diane), Gary Lewis (Kelli), Jerry Lewis, Richard Lewis (Brenda), Don Lewis, Randy Lewis (Phyllis), Judy Fugate, Linda Davis (Jeff), Karen Downing and Janet Lewis; and his close friends, Charlie and Mac. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
