He was predeceased by : his mother Shirley Rechlin-Strege; his grandson Christopher Gullickson; his parents-in-law, Philip and Katherine Werner; his brother Roger Frey (Lucille); his brother-in-law Larry Werner; and his siblings, Alma Chwala and Roland Strege Jr..

He is survived by : his wife Kathleen Werner; his children, Susan Weide (Scott) of Jefferson, Darell Rechlin Jr. (Cheryl) of Jefferson and David Rechlin (Michelle) of Jefferson; his grandchildren, Aaron Rechlin (Jennifer), Daniel Rechlin, Emily Weide, Alyssa Weide (Austin Jung), Karlie Rechlin (Will Cook), Ali Rechlin (Sam Green), Derek Henze (Jenny) and Danielle Jordan (Bear Cunningham); and his great grandchildren, Austin Rechlin, Kylie Rechlin, Donnie Rechlin, Lillianne Yager, Azalea Haas, Jonathan, Isabella and Mason Henze.
