She was predeceased by: her parents, Tom O'Neil and Nancy O'Neil; her parents-in-law, Wilbert and Joan Meidl; her daughter Amanda R Meidl; and her brothers, John O'Neil and Matthias O'Neil.
She is survived by: her husband Matthew Meidl; her daughter Samantha J Hinton; her grandsons, Theo and Elliot Hinton; and her siblings, Dennis O'Neil of Sterling, IL, Timothy O'Neil of Beaufort, SC, Mike O'Neil of Oakland, NJ, Joseph O'Neil of Leavenworth, KS and Suzanne Sissel of Chugiak, AK. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, family, and friends.
Ellen had Huntington's Disease and is donating her brain to Rush in Chicago, and her body to science.
