He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Kirschbaum and Bernice Kirschbaum (Przybylski); his sister Gladys Carney; and his brother-in-law Jim Carney. He is survived by: his wife Sandy Steinhoff; his children, Don Kirschbaum (Jan), Daniel Kirschbaum, Kris Hill (Mike) and Karen Dixon (Shawn); and his grandchildren, Dana Kirschbaum, Jordyn Kirschbaum and Kyle Hill.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Kenosha Humane Society or St. Anne's Catholic Church in Donald's name.
