He was predeceased by: his parents, Erhardt Strunk and Melinda Strunk (Hinke); his wife Joan Edith Strunk; his daughters, Beverly Cronin and Lynette Frieman; his grandsons, William Cronin and Mark Parker; and his siblings, Walter, Arnold, Ann, William and Margaret.

He is survived by: his son Howard Strunk (Teresa); his grandchildren, Amy Evers (Tim), Matthew Freese, Sara Torstenson and Stephanie Paulsboe (Scott); and his great grandchildren, Brock, Braden, Brielle Evers, Drake, Oliver, Emilia Torstenson, Paxton and Tilly Paulsboe.
