He was predeceased by: his brother Matthew Merritt; and his grandparents, Thomas and Alice Merritt. He is survived by: his parents, Thomas Merritt and Susan Merritt (Alfredson); his children, Greyson and Roman Merritt; his sister Amanda Ratkovitch (Merritt); and the mother of his children Cheryl Landry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to Greyson and Roman Merritt are appreciated by the family.
