He is survived by: his wife Kathy Viola of Kenosha, WI; his children, Rich Viola (Maryke) and Dina Beal (Hamilton); his grandchildren, Noah, Leah Beal and Maisie Viola; his siblings, Gayle Swanson, Linda Bailey (Frank), Barb Josephs (Tom) and Dan Viola (Terri); and his sisters-in-law, Peggy Hughes (Bill) and Kathy Viola.

When the Pandemic hit, he found joy in working with his grandchildren in their writing classes online.
