He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Heyden and Maria Vander Heyden (DeYager); his wife Rita Vanden Hogen; his grandson George J. Vander Heiden; his brother Andy Vander Heiden; and his brother-in-law Paul Vanden Hogen.
He is survived by: his children, Jim Vander Heiden (Debbie), Ann Gillis (Jeff), Tom Vander Heiden (Kim) and Scott Vander Heiden (Joy); his grandchildren, Brittney Franklin (Tyler), Delaney Vander Heiden (Alex), Kelsey McKibbin (Kevin), John Gillis, Kassi Chase (Matthew), Joshua Vander Heiden (Katie), Zachary Vander Heiden (Danielle), Hannah Vander Heiden and George H. Vander Heiden; and his great grandchildren, Henry, Anna Franklin, Graham, Brooks McKibbin, Carter and Caroline Chase.
Ultimately, he became a Fiber Microscopist and was proud of his contributions to the development of paper products.
