He was predeceased by : his parents, Theodore Paalman and Adaline Paalman (Neland); his wife Mary Ann Paalman; his son Gary Lee Paalman; and his sisters, Marlene Paalman and Elaine Skrobel.

He is survived by : his children, Gene Paalman (Tami) of Kaukauna, WI, John Paalman (Michelle) of Howard, WI, Kimberly Alft of Antigo, WI and Tammy Johnson (Geno) of Little Chute, WI; his grandchildren, Eldon Paalman, Miriam Paalman, Marley Johnson, Garett Johnson, Jessica Johnson, Coleton Alft, Kayla Alft, David Brauer and Thomas Tanner; his great grandchildren, Emma Woodward, Jaxon Woodward and Rowan Woodward; and his siblings, Lonnie Paalman, Bill Paalman (Carol), Scott Paalman (Amy) and Donna Paalman.

“I will always remember Gene as one of the best friends ever had. Memories of Gene while we were in the Air Force at Naha, Okinawa will be with me forever. There were four of us, Ernie, Marty, Gene, and me who lived, worked and enjoyed many good times at the Airman's Club and in Naminoue, Okinawa. May God bless Gene and all who will miss him.
