He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Schmitt and Laura Schmitt (Kromke); and his siblings, Patricia "Patty" Schmitt of La Crosse, Lairn Schmitt of Sparta and Lily LaDue of La Crosse.
He is survived by: his siblings, Richard Schmitt (Kathryn) of La Crosse, Brian Schmitt (Carla) of Selma, TX, Kevin Schmitt of La Crosse, Marna Stanhope of La Crosse and Carole Rebhahn of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
