He was predeceased by: his parents, Cornelius Boer and Jennie Boer (Van Dyke); and his son Jim Boer. He is survived by: his wife Janice "Jan" Boer (Heyden); his daughter Tammy Messmer (Todd); his grandchildren, Brandon, Megan and Ryan Messmer (Olivia Link); his sister Marilyn Preslicka; and his sibling-in-law Jackie Seaberg.
