Francis J. Mehringer Obituary
God gave him eternal life on Friday, September 26, at the age of 89. Sonny was born on February 27, 1936, to Edwin and Dorothy (Gehring) Mehringer, in the farmhouse on the Century family farm in the Town of Lisbon, Waukesha County, WI. He lived his entire life on this property, going from the farmhouse to a house built in the subdivision that was part of the farm and then to a new house built on the farm.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mae (Techtmann), devoted daughter, Pam (Scott) Anderson, special son, Todd, and precious grandchildren, Dylan, Logan, and Rylee. He will also be missed by his sister, Bernice Lofy, sisters-in-law, Janet Techtmann, Arlene Koepke, and Verna Kudek, along with brother-in-law, Richard Techtmann and his wife, Diane. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and father and mother-in-law, Richard (Frieda) Techtmann. Others preceding him in death were in-laws, Werner Lofy, Paul Techtmann, Lewis (Florence) Enderle, Carl Koepke, and Robert Kudek.
Sonny was an independent trucker hauling stone from Halquist Quarry for more than forty years. He served on the board of the Sussex-Lisbon Area Historical Society until his death. For many years he volunteered his time at church to do cleaning. He enjoyed teaching Pam as a young girl how to ice fish and do summer fishing. After retiring, he spent many days fishing on a friend's pier at Pewaukee Lake with Todd at his side and accompanying him to many fishing outings for handicapped people in Hayward, Fond du Lac and Milwaukee. Numerous trips to Disney and those Pam planned all around the country were enjoyed by the family. He was a simple man with a simple lifestyle. He loved his polish polka music, fish fries with German potato salad and a beer, and Culver's hamburgers and custard. He was seldom seen without a toothpick in his mouth. His pride and joy were taking care of his farm and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching the boys play baseball and Rylee showing him her latest gymnastics.
The family wishes to thank the ICU staff at Ascension Elmbrook Hospital for their compassionate care during his final hours.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church, 20851 W. Main St., Lannon, WI 53046, with a service at 6:00 p.m., followed by refreshments on the lower level. Interment will be private on Friday at Wisconsin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to St. John's Lutheran Church (https://www.stjohnslannon.org), or ARCh (Ass'n. for Rights of Citizens with handicaps), or the Sussex-Lisbon Area Historical Society (SLAHS).
