He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Peterson and Frances Peterson (Hallon); his close friend Robert Siebers (Carol); his aunts, Mabel and Esther; his siblings-in-law, Michael Kelly, James Nechodom, Joann Nechodom and Debbie Nechodom; his nieces and nephews, Chris, Brian, Scott, Kevin, Todd, Melissa and Stephenie; Robert and Lorraine Nechodom (Vaubel).

He is survived by: his wife Mary Peterson (Nechodom); his sons, Robert Peterson (Julie) and James Peterson (Chelsie); his grandchildren, Caleb, Hope, Jake and Ben; his brothers, Mike (Pat), Robert, Bruce (Tanya), Jeff (Karen) and Duane (Connie); his close friends, Donald Vandenberg (Beverly) and James McCormick (Dorothy); Carol Kelly, Linda Meidam, Debbie and Patty Havel (Ron). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
