Gordon Hammen Obituary

He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hammen and Cora Hammen (Van Handel); his parents-in-law, Lester and Margaret Verstegen; his son-in-law Terry Huiting; his siblings, Barbara Bongers (Orville), Elizabeth Van Thiel (Joseph), Grace Hoffman (Elmer), Marian Vanden Heuvel (Harold), Roger Hammen (Betty), Carl Hammen, Eugene Hammen and Jane Hammen; and his siblings-in-law, Noreen Vanden Heuvel (Jerome) and Eugene Riley.

He is survived by: his wife Margaret Verstegen; his children, Paula Huiting, Julie Brockman (Jon), Mary Ellen Wittmann (Dave), Laurie Coffey (Kevin), Patty Aman (Gary) and Carrie Hammen; his grandchildren, Brian Huiting (Brenda), Joe Huiting (Tracy), Craig Huiting, Sara Litersky (Pete), Matt Brockman (Kayla), Luke Brockman (Holly), Kelly Huss (Sam), Jodi Feick (Kevin), Steven Wittmann, Cora Wittmann, Lee Coffey (Kate), Krista Larson (Chris), Aubrey Van De (Brady), Nicholas Aman (Nicole Sixel) and Ryan Aman (Ashtin); his great grandchildren, Kailey, Owen Huiting, Max, Morgan, Chase Litersky, Sam, Jack, Anna, James Brockman, Isaac, Shea, Wells Gordon Brockman, Reid, Alba, Maelin Huss, Jace, Halle Feick, Claire, Olivia, Charlie Coffey and Macy Van De Hey; his sisters-in-law, Josephine Hammen and Mary Kay Riley; and his godsons, Tom Vanden Heuvel, Bob Vanden Heuvel and Kevin Riley. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In recognition of his many contributions to the parish and school, Gordon was proud to be the first recipient of the St. John Athletic Association Msgr.
