She was predeceased by: her parents, James A. Smith and Verona L. Smith (Buzza); her sisters, LaVade Carl and Janice Phillips; her great grandchild Isabel Smith; her son-in-law Robert "Bob" Meyer; her nieces and nephews, Lisa Kellerman, Debbie Smith, Eddie Phillips and Keith Smith; her great-niece Janel Comeau; and her in-laws, Louise Smith (Millard), Virginia, Ed Brown, Eldon, Maybelle Smith and Ronald Smith.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Joe Maass, Ryan Meyer, Matt Druschke, Luke Smith, Jessica Smith, Phil Smith, Adam Smith and Erik Smith; her husband Bud of Marshfield; her children, Sandra Bruesewitz (Charles) of Colby, WI, Susan Druschke (Richard) of Valders, WI, Chris Smith (Janis) of Greenwood, WI, Connie "Coni" Meyer of Loyal, WI, Kenneth Smith (Shari) of Greenwood, WI, James (Smith) and Richard Smith (Julie) of Greenwood, WI; and her brother-in-law Arnold Smith of Claycomo, MO. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 6 treasured grandchildren by marriage; 54 great grandchildren; 6 treasured great grandchildren by marriage; 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Loyal American Legion Hall (302 N Union St, Loyal, WI 54446). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be given in Joan's name to Feed My People, the Loyal American Legion, or the Loyal Historical Society.
