She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Heiking and Luella Heiking (Bowers); her husband Leo Abel; her sons, Eugene and Douglas Abel; her parents-in-law, Leo and Augusta Abel (Schultz); and her sisters-in-law, Florence Bilkey and Lois Abel.
She is survived by: her sons, Garry Abel (Tammy Henry), Rodney Abel (Debra) and Jason Abel (Rita); her daughters-in-law, Marion Evenson and Sue Abel; and her sister Lorraine Skogen. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Ryan Funeral Home (6924 Lake Rd, DeForest, WI 53532). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice in Bernice's honor.
