He was predeceased by: his parents, Silas L. Spengler (Chum) and Margaret I. Spengler (MarMar); and his siblings, William, Silas and Susan.

He is survived by: his children, Erik Spengler (Sharon), Heidi Kluis (Mark) and Dave Spengler (Becky); his grandchildren, Emily, Jon Spengler, Kyle Kluis, Abbie Ragsdale (Cole), David (Haley), Michael and Andrew Spengler; and his former wife Margaret Spengler (Peggy).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church and the VA Hospital of Madison.
