He was predeceased by: his parents, Ludolph Nelson and Thelma Nelson (Johnson); his parents-in-law, Alfred and Ella Zinke; his brother Darrell; his sister-in-law Darlene Nelson; his brother Wally Nelson; his brother-in-law Richard Zinke; and his niece Gerene Jacobson.
He is survived by: his wife Lois; his children, Steve Nelson, Sarah Lucas (Jeff), Rachel Marzen (Nate) and Dave Nelson; his grandchildren, Hannah Lucas, Claire Lucas, Landon Pope, Leah Lucas, Lauren Nelson and Braden Pope; and his sisters-in-law, Jane Nelson and Sharon Zinke.
