With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elsie Balsamo (Madison, Wisconsin), who passed away on August 24, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Alvin Hughes and Tressie Fuller Hughes; her husband Joe; her children, Donald, Roy and Patti; her grandson Donald "Donnie"; and her siblings, Charolet Rusch, Ethel Rohr, Hugh Hughes and Robert Hughes.
She is survived by: her children, Robert "Bob" Balsamo, David Balsamo (Connie) and Debra "Debbie" Saley Quast (Jim); her grandchildren, Stacy Koltes-Linberg, Robert "Rob" Stowell, Anthony "Tony" Stowell (Chrissy), Lori Malm, Sari Saley, Nicholas Saley, Katie Quast (Adam), Sean Quast (Mel), Erin Quast, Patrick Quast (Anya), Colton Balsamo, Brandon Casey and Zeming Zhang; her sister Dorothy Borchardt; her sister-in-law Bernice Hughes; and her pet Nike. She is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who she loved as much as her children.
