He was loved and cherished by many people including: his grandson Maxwell Peterson; his parents, Jack McKinley and Agnes McKinley; his wife Joanne Bennett; his children, Debi Peterson, Patrick McKinley (Stacey) and Christine Lucas (Brian); his grandson Jacob Peterson; his children, Isaac, Austin McKinley and Cayla Lucas; and his friend Monsignor Baxter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. James School and Edgewood High School.
