He was predeceased by: his parents, H. Leroy Peterson and Sigrid Peterson (Sigurdson); his wife Paula (Shields); his brother Bob Peterson; and his siblings-in-law, Eugene Dierks, Char Peterson and Krissy Blum.

He is survived by: his daughter Valerie Peterson; his grandchildren, Jaymeson, Devin and Melody Wethal; his siblings, Lou Rae Dierks, Jim Peterson (Betty) and Jeff Peterson; and his nephew Anthony Peterson (Brittany). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
