He was predeceased by: his wife Joan Mae Helmke; his parents, Roy Horsfall and Mary Pearl Horsfall (Ball); and his siblings, Harold, David, Ralph, Robert, Grace Martin, Marion Manion, Margaret Taft and Lela Johnson.

He is survived by: his brothers, Calvin and Paul (Maxine); and his children, John (Martha), Joseph (Joan), Jaclyn Lawton (Mike), James (Debbie), Jan (Pam Rood), Jeffrey (Debby) and Jinette Lau (Scott).
