It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Charles Martinson (Madison, Wisconsin), who passed away on June 22, 2025, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Bill" Martinson and Lyla Martinson (Olson); his siblings, Jan Banicki and Jeff Martinson; his nephew Scott Martinson; and his great-niece Peyton Martinson (Jeff Drews).
He is survived by: his brother James Martinson (Gail); his siblings-in-law, Roger Banicki and Sandy Martinson; his nieces and nephews, Kelly Martinson, Stacy Sanford (Dan), Jenna Martinson, Josh Martinson (Bry), Jake Martinson and Jesse Martinson (Lauren); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kylana, Parker, Mason, DJ, Matt and Hunter; and his caregivers, Phil Brace, Nick, Jenny, Mandi, Julie, Esther, Austin, Roosevelt, Amadou, Aletta, Muhammed, Lisa, Moige, Isatou, Joan Slempkes, John, Amanda, Erin, Chaplain Gil and Ally.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 3rd 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM at the Gunderson East Funeral & Cremation Care (5203 Monona Dr, Monona, WI 53716). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 3rd 2025 from 11:45 AM to 12:00 PM and from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to Arts for All Wisconsin or to MARC West.
