He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Hicks and Bessie Hicks; his sons, Stuart and Spencer; and his siblings, Marilyn, David, Marion, Ruth, Betty and Charles.

He is survived by: his son John; his wife Joan Zwickey; his children, Steve (Susan), Sue Koenig (Bill), Shelley Wilker and Scott (June); his daughter-in-law Jean Hicks; and his grandchildren, Shannon Hicks, David Hicks, Megan Brody, Andy Koenig, Michael Wilker, Ryan Wilker, Kevin Wilker, Justin Hicks, Erica Dziatkiewicz, Shane Hicks, Jenna Musil, Edward Hicks and Anna Hicks. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
