We announce the death of Michael James Hommel of Madison, Wisconsin, who passed away on September 6, 2026, at the age of 67. Michael will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert "Bob" Hommel and Nioma Elizabeth Stuart (Taylor); his sisters, Lillian Conway and Betty Joyce Walker; and his grandmother Avis Gimel.
He is survived by: his spouse Scott Penney; and his siblings, Martha Colbert, Elizabeth "Del" Harris, Karen Rackard, Melanie Rolin and Robert "Bobby" Hommel. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Gunderson East Funeral & Cremation Care (5203 Monona Dr, Monona, WI 53716). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the same location.
