It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Professor Richard A. Johnson of Madison, Wisconsin, who passed away on February 2, 2026, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid adieu to Professor's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in his wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration Professor has bequeathed us. For though he may have departed from our sight, his spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Johnson and Florence Johnson (Johnson); his son Erik Richard; and his sister Mary. He is survived by: his wife Roberta (Bobbie); and his son Tom (Karen).
Beginning in graduate school and continuing until the pandemic, Rich's chief joy and source of satisfaction was teaching Sunday School and, in later years, guiding small-group confirmation classes at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
