He was predeceased by: his parents, Hazel Hokanson (O'Toole) and Harold Hokanson; his sister Linda Kirk; his granddaughter Ava Hokanson; and his grandson-in-law Justin Gist.

He is survived by: his wife Hilde Hokanson (Pflug); his children, Jamie Thompson, Sr. (Daniel), Vickie McNeal (Thomas), Tamie Laursen (DeVerr) and Joseph Hokanson (Laura); his grandchildren, Daniel Thompson (Andrea), Joshua Thompson, Jonathon Thompson (Mary Margaret), Erica Winter (Luke), Timothy McNeal (Veronica Sustic), Tamara Gist, Ethan Laursen (Genesis), Nathan Laursen, Brandtsen Laursen (Jessica), Zachary Hokanson, Matthew Hokanson and Elizabeth Hokanson; and his brother James Hokanson. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
