He was predeceased by: his parents, Baines Montgomery and Mary Montgomery (Vaughn). He is survived by: his wife Carrie Montgomery; his pets, Percy and Quincy; his siblings, David Montgomery (Lynn), John Montgomery (Mary) and Fran Peterson (Scott); his sister-in-law Marilyn Kotenberg (Ron); and his nieces and nephews, Kurt Kotenberg (Erin), Kristi Schaefers (Matt), Geoffrey Montgomery, James Montgomery (Kristi), Matt Petersen (Crystal), Chris Petersen, Michael Montgomery and Liz Montgomery.

The family encourages guests to wear masks. Interment will be private.

Memorials may be made to the Dane County Humane Society in Robert's name.
