He was predeceased by: his parents, Rosemarie Hoecker (Gray) and William Hoecker; his nephew Joshua Hoecker; his brother-in-law George Rusinko; and his parents-in-law, Julia Ann Williams (Matthews) and John Williams.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth; his daughter Jenna Stoughtenger (Cory); his grandson Will Stoughtenger; his siblings, Sandy Rusinko of Medina, OH and Mike (Sue) Hoecker; his brothers-in-law, John Williams and James Williams; and his nieces and nephews, Tracy Miller (Jeff), Ben Hoecker (Angela), Katie Hoecker, Allison Williams (Andrea), Justin Williams (Hans), Kevin Williams (Melanie) and Amy Legg (Jason).
In lieu of flowers, it was Steve's wish to have memorials support educational programming at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center, a cause close to his heart.
