He was predeceased by: his parents, R. Gilbert Stephan Sr. and Claudia Caroline Stephan (Sontag); his wife Eileen Stephan (Hill); his brother R. Gilbert Stephan Jr.; and his sister-in-law Cyrilla Stephan.
He is survived by: his children, Thomas R. Stephan Jr. of Brooklyn Park, MN, Tim Stephan (Lauren) of Williamsburg, VA and Lucinda Pastula (Tom) of St. Johns, MI.; his grandchildren, Jennifer Lott (Mike), Laura, David Pastula (Lexi), Alyssa, Kristina Stephan and Lincoln Bolitho; and his great grandchildren, Anna and Alice Lott.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church (401 S Owen Dr, Madison, WI 53711).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carbone Cancer Center-University of Wisconsin.
