He was predeceased by: his wife Hannelore; his parents, Wilmer Gruett and Hildegard Gruett (Krueger); his parents-in-law, Bruno and Maria Frisch (Finken); and his sisters, Joann Gruett and Janice Cope.
He is survived by: his children, Cindy Hronek (Randall) of Manitowoc and Michael Gruett Fischer; his grandchildren, Justin Wirth, Samantha Wirth and Marlei Fischer; his brother Glen Gruett (Linda); and his brother-in-law Bruno Frisch (Cynthia).
Don recently made a prestigious donation to the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA).
