He was predeceased by: his father John A. Bergquist; his grandparents, Arthur, Viola Bergquist, Charles and Anna Oswald; and his sister-in-law Lois J. Bergquist.

He is survived by: his mother Gladys E. Bergquist (Oswald); his siblings, David J. Bergquist and Nancy A. Mahnke (Michael); his nephew John Mahnke; his niece Kathryn Mahnke; and his aunt Shirley Oswald. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
